- Essential Question
- How can technology help schools track hallway and bathroom movement while promoting student responsibility and safety?
- Project Description
-
Our project focuses on improving student accountability and hallway safety through a digital hallway and bathroom log system called SmartPass. In many schools, tracking student movement outside the classroom can be difficult for teachers and administrators, and traditional paper logs often lack organization and useful data.
Our Student Tech Team developed a web-based hallway logging system using Canva AI tools that allows students to log in when leaving and returning to class. Students enter basic information such as their name, destination, and time out. The system automatically records the time and stores the information in a shared digital dashboard that teachers and administrators can monitor in real time.
Because the system syncs live, teachers can quickly see which students are currently out of the classroom and how long they have been away. Students helped design the interface, test the system, and gather feedback from teachers to improve its usability.
By using a live web-based platform, SmartPass improves organization, promotes responsible hallway behavior, and creates a scalable system that can expand school-wide and support future improvements such as automated dashboards or QR check-ins.
