- How can AI-powered drones deliver life-saving first aid faster than traditional emergency services?
- Project Description
-
Emergency medical services around the world often face serious challenges such as limited resources, long response times, and inaccessibility in remote or densely populated areas. These delays can critically affect patient survival during emergencies such as heart attacks, strokes, or severe injuries.
To address this challenge, our team developed MediFly, an intelligent drone-based emergency response system designed to provide immediate first aid before an ambulance arrives. The MediFly system includes an AI-powered drone equipped with sensors, a medical kit, a camera, a thermal imaging system, and an instructional screen. It is connected to a mobile application that allows doctors and operators to remotely monitor the patient and guide bystanders through step-by-step first aid instructions.
To validate our idea, we conducted surveys with local residents to understand ambulance response challenges, interviewed experts and paramedics, and performed experiments comparing the response time of a drone and a car. Our results showed that the drone could reach the emergency location nearly three times faster.
Through MediFly, we aim to make emergency assistance faster, more accessible, and more efficient by integrating artificial intelligence, drone technology, and remote medical support.
