SharkBites started after I watched a documentary about bycatch and felt shocked that sharks are often caught accidentally and killed. I kept thinking about it, and I wanted to do something. Since I love baking, I decided to use cookies to start conversations about ocean conservation. I created SharkBites, sold cookies at school events, and shared information about sharks with buyers. All profits were donated to Sea Shepherd. I also gave a TED-Ed Student Talk to spread the message further and worked with local university students to help share information and organize events. So far, I’ve reached over 200 people and encouraged small actions to protect marine life.
