- Big Idea
- Smart Technology for Cleaner Cities
- Essential Question
- How can technology and artificial intelligence be integrated into daily life to help create cleaner, more sustainable cities?
- Project Description
-
In our city with areas of high-traffic, the volume of waste generated daily often outpaces the schedule of cleaning services. This timing gap leads to overflow that migrates onto local roads. All of the city's residents are affected by this issue, and we want to make a change.
Thus, due to our interest in engineering, robotics, and technology, it inspired us to transform our passion into practical innovation, leading to the development of an AI-driven trash-cleaning robot.Structural Design of Formosa 2
Through 3D CAD modeling skills and electrical wiring management, the robot's design was thus optimized for versatility, allowing it to be easily deployed in public spaces such as local parks and pedestrian areas.
Materials: The robot is built with components that are 3D printed or eco-friendly wood veneer that’s laser cut into precision, allowing the robot to not only be cost-effective to consumers, but also be manufactured sustainably.
Caterpillar tracks: This form of motorization of the robot allows Formosa 2 to conquer several types of terrains, proving to be versatile in different environments.
Power: We also installed solar panels on the top of the robot, creating an autonomous robot that is capable of running on solar energy.
